Our Story

We're David and Nick Cox, a father and son from Purcellville, Virginia. We've both spent our careers in service businesses, where the work happens in customers' homes and facilities, and a company's reputation depends on the people who show up. We're looking for one established business to own and take care of for the long term.

We both got our start on the moving trucks. For David, that was the beginning of a 30-year career in moving and relocation. After two years teaching English in Albania with the Peace Corps, he joined Graebel as an operations supervisor. He worked his way up through general management and regional leadership, and later served as president of Suddath Relocation Systems. Today he is President of JK Moving Services in Sterling, Virginia.

Nick spent his summers on JK's residential moving crews, then moved into move coordination and sales. After graduating from Gettysburg College, he spent three years at Medix Technology. He recruited technology talent for health systems and later managed client relationships and led recruiters and sales development reps.

Along the way, we've both learned that service companies do best when they take care of the people doing the work. David has made that a priority throughout his career, and through two acquisitions he has seen firsthand what a change in ownership means for the people involved. Nick learned it on the crews, and later as a recruiter helping people find teams where they fit.

Between us, we bring experience in operations, sales, customer relationships, and building teams. We also know that the people already in a business understand it better than any new owner. Our first job will be to learn from them, earn their trust, and build on what the owner has created rather than replace it.

Outside of work, you'll usually find us outdoors, hunting, fishing, or out on a trail.
